Why 5?: The average car emits 5 tons of carbon each year. one tree can sequester 1 ton of carbon in 40 years. So plant 5 trees and let them grow until 2064 and they will offset your driving your car in 2024. The great news is many of these trees will live longer than 40 years making a really positive difference for the air quality and biodiversity for the planet.

Official tree adoption certificates are available to share as gifts for the holidays!
This is our 9th Annual Tree Planting Campaign! Each year, we take direct action to effectively offset the carbon emissions generated from Helia’s vehicles as well as those of our dedicated employees. This year we are planting 140 native trees with a goal of planting 250 native trees as a community.
We will partner up with local conservation land to plant these beautiful native trees.
Helia Native Nursery recognizes that local and global ecosystems are threatened by climate change, pollution, and urban development. Helia’s Carbon Offset Initiative allows participants to take direct action to offset carbon emissions by planting native trees in conserved areas throughout Berkshire County. In the coming year, this initiative will help bring improvements to the health of our community, as well as our changing planet.
We encourage you to purchase 5 trees to either pick up and plant on your own or donate to be planted on your behalf on conservation land. Deadline to sign-up is Wednesday, November 5th!
One average vehicle produces 5 tons of Carbon a year and it takes one tree 40 years to sequester 1 ton of Carbon. By planting 5 native trees and allowing them to grow for 40 years, you'll offset your Carbon emissions for 2025.
